Emily Schwarzkopf joined the Michigan League for Public Policy in December 2016 as a policy analyst. Prior to joining the League, Emily served as the appropriations coordinator for Democratic Central Staff for the Michigan House of Representatives. She also has served as a policy advisor for the Democratic Central Staff as the lead advisor on health policy, military and veterans affairs, and the Medicaid budget. Emily worked very closely on the development of Michigan’s Medicaid expansion program otherwise known as “Healthy Michigan”. Prior to her service in the House, Emily was the membership engagement coordinator at the Small Business Association of Michigan and an intern in the Office of the Legislative Liaison at the Michigan Department of Community Health.
Emily holds a Bachelor of Science in political science from Central Michigan University. She has also completed a policy fellowship with the University of Michigan’s Center for Healthcare Research & Transformation and the Michigan Political Leadership Program through Michigan State University.
